I'm a baseball, softball and hockey broadcaster & writer with nearly a decade of experience calling games across various national and regional markets around the world. 
 

I've worked in media / communications for Team Australia Baseball, teams in the Australian Baseball League, the Australian Ice Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, Canadian Hockey League and U-Sports.

 

I write stories and provide content for major media outlets across Australia.

I am the 2023 Australian Baseball League Broadcaster of the Year and am a finalist for an ASC Media Award for Outstanding Coverage of an Event (World Baseball Classic).

I bring rhythm, story-telling and infectious passion to any broadcast or project put in front of me.

 

I was born and raised in Canada and recently acquired an Australian citizenship.

Media and Communications Manager, since 2021

 

Moved from General Manager (Operations) to a communications role focusing, providing coverage through updates on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Web, and broadcasts. I also coordinate all media with the Giants. I write stories, run a podcast, make graphics, pitch media, edit videos, cut highlights and broadcast games.

I write weekly articles for the Adelaide Advertiser covering baseball in South Australia.

I won a 2023 ABL Award for Outstanding Social Media and Team Coverage.

 

My change in a more intimate, news-focused and story-telling style increased numbers. This includes:

I was in charge of Team Australia's story-telling for the 2023 World Baseball Classic and the pre-tournament camp. 

I coordinated social media, wrote daily stories for baseball.com.au, wrote stories for major news outlets around the globe, provided game coverage plus pitched and coordinated media. 

I was nominated for a writing award for my coverage of the team. 

Numbers include:

 

  • News tracking services indicate a reach over 148 million not including shares, copies and screen grabs.
     

  • Stories picked up from outlets all over world including MLB.com, Japan Times Al Jazeera, ESPN, Fox Sports, ABC, Sydney Morning Herald - to name a few

Adelaide Avalanche (Pacific Hockey League)

Media and Communications Manager, President, since April 2022

 

A new team in a new league, founded April 2022. I provide coverage through all social media platforms, play-by-play on broadcasts, highlights, graphics, web maintenance and web articles. The PHL is a national ice hockey competition with teams across the country.
 

  • Tickets: Every game sold out (only team in PHL)
     

  • Facebook: Reach of 96,000 and Instagram Reach of 15,921. 1,400 likes (most in PHL).
     

  • Engagement: Numbers suggest most engaged team in PHL, with most web-traffic, social media following and broadcast numbers
     

  • Web: 4,630 unique sessions on website in last 30 days, most in the PHL

BaseballSA

Communications and Media Manager, Content Writer and Social Media Manager (October 2021 - October 2022)

I provide coverage by hosting a TV show, play-by-play broadcasting, social media management, highlights, news articles and reporting on the local leagues. I want people in the baseball community to feel informed and connected to their sport. The goal was to engage existing audience in a capped local market. Year-on-year increases:
 

  • Facebook: Reach of 156,340 (increase of 49.3%) and 75,691 visits (45.7% increase)
     

  • Instagram: Reach of 9,350 (increase of 26.1%) and 13,045 visits (55.3% increase)
     

  • Like / Follower Increase: Facebook (577 or 15%) and Instagram (524 or 33%)
     

  • Web: Wrote 105 articles on BaseballSA website providing updates, community notices, reports or local stories. In 9 months that is almost equal to the number of stories produced in the previous 21 months combined. Clicks on web stories up 34%.

National Hockey Super League

Media and Communications Manager, League Organiser (Sept 2021 – April 2022)

 

Created, administered and provided media for a new ice hockey league in South Australia featuring elite three teams and top talent from across the country. I was in charge of engaging local fan base and players. The results were:

  • National TV Coverage: Games broadcast and picked up by SBS-on-Demand and NITV

  • Ticket Sales: Every game during the season and playoffs sold out

  • Sponsorship: Every team and league secured a major sponsor

  • Socials: 2,400 likes on Facebook, 1,209 on Instagram

  • Managed social media of the league and team pages. Facebook posts reached 110,038 people and had 26,717 visits

  • Average web traffic of 3,300 unique visitors per month

  • 126 elite players across country applying to be drafted in the league (60 spots)

General Manager (Operations) of the Adelaide Giants
2016 - 2022
  • Oversee Game Day Operations, Sales, Marketing, Communications, Media, Sponsorship and Servicing, Events, Ticketing, Membership, Volunteers and  Hospitality for this ABL team

  • Highlights include playing a leading role in the rebrand to the Adelaide Giants from the Adelaide Bite, increasing digital databases across all platforms, pioneering our volunteer program, and reaching sales targets in both sponsorship and ticket sales;

  • Manage a team of six full-time staff and 30+ volunteers each season;

  • Oversee budget for key revenue lines;

  • Communications roles include acting as public address announcer on game days, running social media channels, managing press, writing game stories and releases, newsletters and driving strategy;

  • Became the youngest president in the history of the Australian Ice Hockey League when named President in 2015

  • Adapted a strategy of storytelling, fan interaction, social media and club connection to increase all key revenue items;

  • Piloted the use of video-content, live-streaming, and extended multimedia to the team;
